What is an LBP?

An LBP is a Licensed Building Practitioner. All work classified as restricted building work must either be conducted or overseen by an LBP. Licensing is a government-run program administered by MBIE in New Zealand.

Every roofing business on the Roofbuddy marketplace must have a Licensed Building Practitioner associated with its account, held by the owner or a staff member and verified against the MBIE public register at onboarding.

Licences are renewed annually. All licensed building practitioners must maintain a high level of competence and demonstrate continuous professional development, which opperates on a points system. For the roofing specialist trade group, LBPs must accumulate a minimum of 12 skills maintenance points over a two-year period.

Roof Buddy also conducts an independent assurance quality check on your roof to make sure the installation has gone to current building and manufacturers standards.
