Your new house needs to withstand the elements for decades to come. Most roofing products we recommend give you the assurance of a 30 year perforation (structural) warranty, 18 years on the paint and galvanisation and between 5-10 years on the workmanship from a qualified roofer.
Typically for a new build the builder will be responsible for scaffolding & access & building the entire structure (substrate) that the roof sits on. From there the roofer would be responsible for installing netting (if required), paper and roofing material on top including flashings and all of the penetrations through roof for pipes and sky lights etc. In simple terms the builders work with the wood and the roofers work with the metal or tiles.
Timeframes for roofing vary job to job and can range between 1 week to 6 weeks depending on size and complexity; job progress is also weather dependent. The roof will be installed after the substrate (purlins are installed) and prior to the internal fittings and electrics being installed inside. We recommend giving
your roofer as much notice as possible and confirming the job early so they can lock the job into their schedule and avoid unnecessary project delays.

This is the requirement for the sign off the council will need after the installation of your new roof in order to apply for the CCC and building warrant of fitness. You'll receive a detailed QA report, giving you added confidence before making your final payment.
