Ian And Sharleen - Roofbuddy Customer

Meet Ian and Sharleen. Wanting a new roof with no idea where to start, they turned to Roofbuddy and discovered just how simple, transparent, and expert-led the whole roofing process could actually be.

How did you find out about Roofbuddy?

Well, actually, It was a dilemma. We wanted a new roof. We didn't know where we go or who to talk to, we didn't want to have to talk to a dozen people.

So I just punched into the internet, ‘roofing’, Roofbuddy turned up first. I took a quick look at it and went that's fantastic! I'm going to pass this over to my wife.

What did you think of the Roofbuddy process?

Well, look it was really easy in terms of explaining what we were looking for.

And actually, we really didn't have a clue in terms of people who did the jobs.

So I did a bit of research, saw your reviews and thought, actually, this is something we could work with.

So I enquired and Finn came back to us and talked us through the process. It was really simple.

And I loved the Roofbuddy dashboard, it's really super easy to use and so we just proceeded with looking for quotes.

What impressed you most about the Roofbuddy process?

It was just so straightforward and transparent. At the end of the day, a roof’s a roof, you know, but there's actually a little bit more to it than that.

It was really cool to have Finn explain those things to us, take some interest in it and then recommend some roofers that would would be ideal for us.

And then the whole process about how you fit, how they were rated, the amount of ratings they have and if there were any shortcomings with the individual parties.

That made it easy for us to go, hey look, you know, if it's just a communication thing, I'm sure we can resolve that and have that sorted upfront. If it was, down to speed, tidiness or whatever, all the factors were there to be able to make a decision to go, these people at this level with this product that they're ideal for us.

So yeah, it was transparent. I think the great thing was the dashboard, it was really super easy to use and it allowed you to go in and look at reviews. To check out each party and kind of understand them and what they did and what other people thought of their work.

So I think in terms of us going and looking for that, we could have looked at dozens of companies ourselves and still not come up with a decision. I think the great thing about it was they came recommended, which was the first thing that was really helpful to us. That meant we could look at them individually. Even at this point, I still wasn't 100%, but that when Finn was able to answer a whole pile of questions for us and made the job so much easier in selecting the roofer we wanted to move forward with.

Was the roof map and scope of work clear to understand?

I think the mapping system is amazing. The fact they come out and they fly a drone over the house for me it looked pretty awesome.

But from your perspective (Ian), he comes from an architectural background, I think you were pretty impressed? Yeah, it was really good and with all that information I guess some questions arose.

This is a new house acquisition for us and as a consequence we were doing some things that had components that were attached to the old roof. We were able to talk to the guys when they got that plan and with the mapping information we were able to say hey, we don't need this or we don't need that. There's only going to be that penetration where the wood burner is, the other penetration is where we've got the vent from the kitchen coming through and where the antennas and things were on the roof they were all going etc.

So it made it really straightforward and there wasn't room for error I guess. It allowed us to actually see what the roof looked like too, which was helpful.

What advice would you have for other homeowners who are looking to replace their roof?

To be honest I think the whole process and the way that it's been done through Roofbuddy has been super easy.

I'm in real estate and I don't expect other people to fully understand real estate and so I would suggest they go to the experts, go to people who are dealing in this constantly.

Roofbuddy have been super easy to deal with and they know the work.

So, you know, go to the experts, ask them the right questions, you'll get the answers.

It's an easy decision to make from there. Once you have all the information, you'd be a fool if you don't.
